As
Winter Moves In, Death Toll Could Top 100,000
Americans, who gave more
money to Katrina than any disaster, even though less than a
thousand died, shamefully
are not giving as readily to Pakistan. Will it take frozen bodies
of young children to remind Americans that a 2 year old is not a
terrorist?
The U.N. Children's Fund, which was estimating 50-60 percent of
the dead were children, said it feared more than 32,000 young
people had died. Another 42,000 were injured.

We have a relief center in Bayou La Batre, AL (~30 miles south of
Mobile) and the volunteer staff was told by the ISP that they
can't hook up the DSL b/c it was damaged.
Does
anyone know of any WISPs or any people on-the-ground doing
broadband Internet connectivity and VoIP stuff in the area?
Any help would be appreciated. We're
helping Vietnamese, Cambodian, & Laos folks (mostly fisherman) get
FEMA & Red Cross benefits and with 1 phone/fax line, dial-up
doesn't seem like the most viable solution.
Thanks! Ha-Hoa Dang
