US ELECTION 2006 - WHY VOTE?
Why is voting so important this year? The world is on the brink of collapse environmentally and economically with a potential for loss of life on an unprecedented scale. Many leaders are trying to figure out how their country MUST come to terms with its effect on global warming. Is the US? Our President just chose the former CEO of Exxon-Mobil to figure out how we, the worst polluting country in the world, should deal with the problem. That appointment shows a disconnect between what should be done and what little might be done. There are too many disconnects on too many issues. Some are discussed here. Please vote. Your life MAY depend on your choices. Your children's lives will DEFINITELY depend on them.
SAVING THE U.S. FROM ITSELF: THE ENVIRONMENT
Any candidate who does not agree the Kyoto Accord should be strengthened DRASTICALLY and IMMEDIATELY does not deserve your vote!
THE WAR IN IRAQ

Sen. Daniel Inouye of Hawaii, who lost an arm fighting in WWII, voted for withdrawing troops by next July. Any candidate who does not say that a timetable should be set to have US troops out of Iraq within one year does not deserve your vote!

BELOW ARE A FEW OF THE MORE IMPORTANT ISSUES, IN ALPHA ORDER

ASSAULT ON THE CONSTITUTION
Any candidate who backs domestic spying or revoking the writ of habeas corpus to those simply suspected of being a threat without giving them due process in a court of law does not deserve your vote!
ECONOMY
Any candidate who says the federal budget deficit crisis can be solved without raising taxes is lying and does not deserve your vote!
HEALTH CARE
Any candidate who does not say that America needs to have a single payer health care system does not deserve your vote!
IMMIGRATION
Any candidate who backs building a fence across our borders does not deserve your vote!
SOCIAL SECURITY
Any candidate who says that social security should be privatized does not deserve your vote!
WOMEN'S RIGHTS
Abortion should be legal but rare. With the exceptions of rape, incest, and medical emergencies, that can only happen when birth control is taught and available and affordable. Any candidate who wants the state to control a woman's choices about her body does not deserve your vote.
www - NET NEUTRALITY
Any candidate so beholden to the media conglomerates s/he agrees the internet should be controlled by big business, who is opposed to what is called 'net neutrality', does not deserve your vote!

HELP TO GET OUT THE VOTE!

There may be little Americans can do to atone for this presidency, which will stain our country's reputation for a long time. But the process of recovering our good name must begin somewhere and the logical place is in the voting booth this Nov. 7. ...the world will be watching as we go to the polls, seeking to ascertain whether the American people have the wisdom to try to correct a disastrous course... IGNORANCE IS NOT BLISS
One student, having written about the disasters to come if global warming is not abated, said "I'm not registered to vote. I have no interest in politics at all." If it is the politicians who have the power to quickly and legally force changes to slow global warming, can anyone really claim to care about the earth and humanity if they do not also care about politics?
WHY ASIAN AMS NEED TO VOTE
Voting counts correlated to census data and exit polls are so sophisticated that who votes is well known: "x% of Asian Americans voted for y." If our voices are to be heard, politicians must know that those x% of Asian Americans votes will decide winners and losers.
SHOULD YOU VOTE FOR ASIAN AMS?
		Not necessarily! Some APIA candidates are bad!
Sometimes APA voters feel pressure: "The first (pick any APA ethnicity) is running so we need to support him" or "she's the only (pick again) and without her there will be no one who understands our needs." Click here for an example of an APA candidate who hopefully will not win. He shows why race should not be the first, second, or even third priority. Before you vote or send a donation, know each candidate's position on issues. Then only vote for Asian Americans you will be proud of.
