WABC Eyewitness News

- Suffolk County police have arrested a 13-year-old juvenile in connection with a SUNY-Stony Brook fire that damaged the Chapin Apartments on Health Science Drive.

The teen was charged with arson and released into the custody of his parents.

He will appear in Family Court at a later date.

The fire occurred on August 23. Flames shot through the roof of the building, causing a collapse into the second floor.

Students in the apartment building, who live there year-round, were evacuated. None were injured.

The building is student housing for graduate and medical students as well as for married students.

Within Chapin, there are one and two bedroom apartments for couples and families, four to six bedroom apartments for undergraduate students, and three and four bedroom apartments for single graduate students and students in the Health Sciences Center
