The
Mid-Autumn Moon Festival is one of the two most
important holidays in China. They are both like American
Thanksgiving - families come together to feast and enjoy
each others company. For the Mid-Autumn Festival there are
also moon cakes to eat - filled with black bean or lotus
nuts and sometimes egg yolks are just a few of the many
varieties.
Because students cannot go home, the graduate student
organization SBCSSA, the Stony Brook Chinese Students and
Scholars Association, always has big events for those two
holidays. Moon Fest is games and contests and fun while the
Lunar New Year is a cultural show.
This year
Ming Li, SBCSSA President, and his Cabinet put together
a fun filled night for everyone, including parents with
their children. Scattered throughout the SAC Ballroom were
all different kinds of games and contests - from using hula
hoops and hockey sacs to musical chairs and pin the tail on
the donkey though in this case, stick the nose on the face.
And there were plenty of moon cakes to eat too!
