3/28 UPDATE: IT'S SET TO GO
Wanna go to China?
Wanna visit Mongolian and Tibetan pastoralists up on the
Qinghai-Tibetan plateau and stay overnight in a yurt on the
grasslands? Wanna visit the Mosou people of Lugu Lake? Wanna
visit the Dai of Xishuangbanna? Wanna get academic credit
for doing all that?
Ethnicity and Ecology in China
Prof. Greg Ruf in Asian and Asian American
Studies will be taking students to see the "real" China. Students will visit the
major cities of Beijing and Xian and then travel from the
Tibetan plateau down through rain forests and the famous
picturesque mountains of Guilin. Prof. Ruf's
students who plan on going are excited
and all the details have now been finalized. The updated

Three weeks at Shanghai Jiao Tong University,
one of China's elite, in the city known as the Paris of the

Nestled beneath Mt. Fuji, spend four weeks in a total
immersion program at Nihon University. Both Tokyo and Kyoto

Silk Road
Begin with a week in Beijing at Tsinghua
University, China's MIT, then follow the Silk Road from the
ancient capital of Xian, home of the clay warriors, to the
desert of Dunhuang, using the Silk Road as as a classroom
without walls to see China in all its modern complexity.
Designed for Journalism students but open to writers if
space is available. Application deadline: February 15th.
