'Henry' Bohua Kou graduated today from St.
Andrews High School in Sewanee, Tennessee. He is
the son of SBU AIMP alumnus Dr. KOU Fuping.
Henry is the first child of a China V alumn to
attend high school in the US and he also took
college courses at SBU during the summer of
2007. (Yes, he is very bright! As a 10th grader
he got an A in SBU's Chem 131.)
He was extremely excited by the day's events -
he kept saying, "I can't believe it's over. I
did it!" The gold tassels he is wearing are for
honors he received. Some he expected, even in
his 'extracurricular' activities - his trumpet
playing is so good he plays with the University
of the South orchestra. But the night before, at
the Awards dinner, he had been chosen as the
Best Residential Student and although not one of
the many academic honors he received, it was the
one that seemed to give him the most personal
satisfaction.
Henry is off to Beijing for the summer and then
will attend Rochester University majoring in
Engineering, and possibly double majoring in
Economics. Rochester's Eastman School of Music
is rated #1 as the hottest music school in
America so he will have plenty of good company
to continue his trumpet playing too!
Congrats Henry! And Mom and Dad
too!
